"A group of us are thinking about starting a bank. Do you want
to have some fun? F.T. (Tommy) Elliott, Jr. posed that question to his physician,
Dr. John Castiglione, 30 years ago. And, as they say, the rest is history. Visalia
Community Bank was founded by local businessmen. On August 1, 1977 the doors officially
opened to greet our first customers.
Beginning with a small office and 14 employees on Mooney Boulevard,
we now have four community branches and a Home Loan Center in Visalia, a downtown office
in Exeter and 85 friendly, service-oriented employees. As Visalias oldest
independent and locally owned financial institution, we have grown from an original
capitalization of $1.25 million to $16.9 million, with current assets of $178 million as
of December 31, 2007. Click here for a complete 2006 financial statement.
Visalia Community Bank also has earned recognition for high ethical
standards, a positive work environment and a commitment to the community. VCB was honored
with the Central California Excellence in Business Award for 2004 in the category of
Finance/Banking/Insurance. Sponsored by The Fresno Bee, the ninth annual Excellence in
Business Awards encompass six counties, so we are proud to receive this prestigious award.
Exceeding customers expectations. Fostering business growth.
Investing in the community. We attribute our 30 years of success to maintaining these
traditions, while always striving to do better. By providing the financial products of a
larger bank with the personalized service of a community bank, we give our customers the
best of both worlds.
