How to Report Fraud
If you believe that your Visalia Community Bank account information or personal information has been compromised it is crucial that you speak with us immediately. The sooner we know the sooner we can begin helping you.
This includes:
- Your Credit or Debit Card # or your PIN (Personal Identification Number)
- Personal Identification Information such as your social security or Tax ID number
- Online Advantage Internet Banking login information such as User ID's or passcodes
- Lost or Stolen Mobile Devices
Suspicious E-Mail (Phishing)
"Phishing" is a type of fraud where an e-mail asks you, often with a sense of urgency, to click a link to update or confirm your sensitive personal information, such as your account numbers, debit or credit card numbers, social security/tax identification numbers, password or PINS. The link goes to a fake or "spoofed" website designed to look like a legitimate company's website.
Other methods of trying to obtain personal or account information also exist. For example, "smishing" is when text messages are sent asking for the same type of sensitive personal information and "vishing" refers to when they make phone calls or leave a voice mail directing you to a fake website or phone number.
For your protection, we have removed all links to log in to Visalia Community Bank Internet Banking from our e-mails.
Visalia Community Bank will not ask you to update or confirm sensitive information by clicking on a link within an e-mail or by replying to an e-mail. Nor would we send a text message or leave a voice mail requesting you provide us with this information.
If you believe that you have received a fraudulent e-mail from the bank, please forward it to abuse@vcb.com so we can investigate it. Do not click on any link within the message. For additional information about how to protect yourself from phishing scams visit www.antiphishing.org and click on consumer advice.
Also, to protect yourself from accessing a spoofed website, we strongly encourage you to download and install Trusteer Rapport on any PC that you use to access Visalia Community Bank's Internet Banking.
